Designed specifically with schools in mind, Equiinet's BackupPilot is not only easy to install but also provides two levels of backup: at the school site and at a secure remote storage centre. BackupPilot operates automatically, so that all the school's data – even that on teachers' laptops – is backed up without any need for human intervention.

Whilst some remote backup services need software to be installed on all machines before transmitting an initial full backup to the remote facility over the internet – which can take literally days – BackupPilot's “agentless architecture” does not need any additional software, hardware or disk space. The initial backup is run to a removable drive which is then physically sent to the data centre, making it much simpler and faster to get started. After this, only amendments or changes need to be backed up. This means there is a smaller volume of files, so the ongoing backup can take place easily overnight using the school's broadband connection.

BackupPilot's sophisticated technology backs up all the school's laptops, PCs and servers: eliminating any need for manual copying of files and thereby reducing workload as well as increasing reliability. Most importantly of all, restoration of lost data is simple and quick. Even large amounts of data are rapidly recovered from the in-school BackupPilot unit.
