CachePilot Overview

What is CachePilot?

Designed to meet the needs of schools, as defined by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and BECTA. CachePilot is an all-in-one smart content delivery solution that is robust enough to handle any eLearning package, no matter the size, content provider or available bandwidth. CachePilot can store, update and deliver both static and dynamic content locally, enabling simultaneous access by multiple PCs.

CachePilot comes in four different models: CachePilot, CachePilot Plus, CachePilot Plus Rack and CachePilot Max. The original CachePilot comes in an attractive enclosure that is ideal for desktops and is predominately used in primary schools.

Physically small enough to be located in cramped conditions, CachePilot Plus still manages to offer more than twice the performance of the original CachePilot making it ideal for schools who are keen to truly get the best out of their network. The unit, which comes with and internal SATA drive as standard can be additionally equipped with a second drive in its caddy providing up to a further 1TB of storage depending on a schools particular requirements.

CachePilot Plus Rack is a low depth 2U rack unit suitable for the smaller wall-mounted racks.

CachePilot Max, which benefits from a faster caching engine and twin removable hard drives as standard, is available in a 2U format suitable for mounting in a 19 cabinet.

All four models can also monitored and controlled centrally from Equiinets new Central Control Suite (CCS), giving anyone overseeing a medium or large education network added control and functionality.

The Special Requirements of eLearning
For eLearning material to be effectively delivered to academic establishments - or for lifelong learning purposes in business - it must come from a local source that replicates the original data in a structured manner. The local cache must also be capable of automatic content updating as and when required, and capable of delivering its content to many users simultaneously, all of which is beyond the capability of standard caching techologies. CachePilot is ideal for this task because it is far more that just a caching appliance. CachePilot provides the complete eLearning content delivery system, it:
