SmartUTM URL Filtering

NetPilot's URL filtering offers the most comprehensive URL filtering and blocking capability on the market, with the highest ever levels of administrator control.

Netpilots use a client-server mechanism to implement filtering. Each NetPilot can be configured with filtering profiles for individuals, groups of users, or for the whole unit. While browsing to the internet occurs, the NetPilot seamlessly checks the URLs that users specify via an array of centrally managed servers which comprise the Brightfilter service. These servers tell the NetPilot if the URLs have been categorised as porn, phishing, games or any one of 94 categories of websites. If a URL has been categorised then the NetPilot acts on the policy set for that user by the NetPilot administrator and sites will be allowed or blocked accordingly.

The Brightfilter managed service is operated by Equiinet in conjunction with its long time filtering partner Telocator. Each NetPilot with URL filtering enabled will automatically communicate with the Brightfilter array of centrally managed servers which are kept constantly updated by a team of specialists using both human review and AI (Artificial Intelligence) techniques.

In addition, the Brightfilter service utilises a combination of technology including the Secure Computing SmartFilter list and data supplied by various other organisations to ensure the very highest level of protection. Integration of the Internet Watch Foundation and Anti-Phishing Workgroup blacklists enhances the accuracy and quality of the content filtering to maximum effect.

By offering Secure Computing's SmartFilter, the successor of the original N2H2 filtering, as a subscription-based extra - with millions of URLs listed by category - it is many times more comprehensive than any competitive list. NetPilot products have an unrivalled ability to control what material can be downloaded. This ensures that end users continue to use the web proactively, legally and in keeping with the organisation's guidelines.

Please note the N2H2 service offered by Equiinet has been discontinued.

It's estimated that in the UK alone, companies are losing £9.6bn a year due to employees surfing the Internet on company time. With NetPilot URL filtering at the gateway between your network and the Internet, fears about inappropriate use of the Internet can be banished.

Total peace of mind with NetPilot URL Filtering:

Secure Computing's vast database of URLs can be blocked either individually, or by defined category, such as 'porn', 'sports' or 'entertainment' etc. depending on the requirements of the particular organisation. The system administrator has total control over which sites can be visited. More on Secure Computing's categories >>>

N.B:

UTM URL filtering is only available through Equiinet approved and trained partners.

Purchasing a Secure Computing SmartFilter category (also known as label or check) server directly from N2H2/Secure Computing and interfacing this to Equiinet products, still requires purchase and installation of appropriate software licenses from Equiinet for the appropriate numbers of CachePilots, NetPilots or SecurePilots. The appropriate ordering information in this instance is:

Part Number : 1310/000010 - URL filtering Enabling License
Description: Software License to talk to external Secure Computing server.
Price : £100 per NetPilot
